HOW TO USE: Make sure vise is securely mounted to the workbench and the swivel base lock are secure. Open the vise by turning the vise handle counterclockwise. Place item between the serrated jaws. Close the vise by turning the vise handle clockwise until the item is snug in the serrated jaws, continue to tighten until you can no longer move item. Don't over tighten as this may damage item and or the vise. When finished working on the item, turn screw handle counterclockwise to release the item. SWIVEL BASE: Interlocking swivel base with 360-degree motion and 2 lockdowns. TECHNICAL SPECS: Jaw Width 5" (12.7 cm), Jaw Opening 5.25" (13.335 cm), Throat Depth 3.75" (9.525 cm), Min Pipe Capacity .25" (0.635 cm), Max Pipe Capacity 2.5" (6.35 cm). MECHANICS VISE: The Yost Vises 650-C Mechanics Vise is made from 30,000 PSI cast grey iron with a tubular steel frame. It has an enclosed lubricated main screw sheltered from the environment. It is equipped with a large anvil work surface as well as replaceable hardened steel serrated top jaws and pipe jaws.

Made in china...
For starters, it is my mistake, if I'd dug deeper I could have found this out before I bought it. I was trying to avoid a made in china vise and ended up on Yost's website based on some online praise for their "made in Michigan" vises. The vise seems to be OK but I was shopping for Made in the USA.

Yost Vise, BIG HIT!
I bought this as a Christmas gift for my husband. He broke his very old 4" Craftsman vise a month before Christmas and asked me to replace it with the Yost 6" vise. He had it secured to his workbench the day after Christmas! He loves it! And that makes me very pleased with my purchase.

Very happy with this vise
Quality of the vise seems good. Online ad led me to believe that the country of origin was the U. S. when it was actually China. Found that to be disappointing.
